DID YOU KNOW THAT the number of households per 100 occupied housing units was 101?

In 2007, the number of occupied housing units increased by 17.9 percent, from 70,872 occupied housing units in 2000 to 83,528 in 2007. The number of households per 100 occupied housing units was 101 in 2007, down from 102 households per 100 occupied housing units in 2000. Further, there were 4.9 persons per occupied housing unit reported in 2007, lower than the 5.3 persons per occupied housing unit in 2000.

Strong materials for roofs for more than half of the occupied housing units

More than half (50.7 percent) of the 83,528 occupied housing units in Surigao del Norte had roofs made of galvanized iron/aluminum, while 39.0 percent had roofs made of cogon/nipa/anahaw. As to the construction materials of the outer walls of the occupied housing units, 43.2 percent were made of wood, while 24.7 percent were made of concrete/brick/stone.  (Source:  NSO)

DO YOU KNOW THAT Median age increased by one year?

The household population of the province in 2007 had a median age of 20 years, or one year higher than the median age reported in 2000. This means that half of the population of Surigao del Norte in 2007 were younger than 20 years old,

Among the household population, children aged 0 to 4 years accounted for the largest share (13.1 percent). Children in the next age group (5 to 9 years) followed closely with 12.9 percent share. Meanwhile, household population aged 10 to 14 years was the third largest age group (12.3 percent).

In terms of population by age and sex, males outnumbered their female counterparts from age 0 to 59 years. Females outnumbered males at age 60 years and over.

DID YOU KNOW THAT sex ratio was 103 males per 100 females?

Of the 408,693 household population of Surigao del Norte, there were 207,683 males and 201,010 females, resulting to a sex ratio of 103 males for every 100 females. The sex ratio in 2000 was 102 males per 100 females. (Source: NSO)

No offense to my gay friends but the NSO people should have provided more data to disclose some unanswered questions, such as: of the reported male population, what is the percentage of gays? heheheheh
